At Home With Crochet: Workshop 2

I had another private workshop with the same group of ladies I had a workshop with last month (check the first session here). We also welcomed new company!

Our supplies for this session. Notice the folded spread on the left? That's the African Flower Bedspread I made last year! This is its home now. And I'm proud it belongs to a lovely family and home.

Those who attended the first session got so excited to crochet that they literally went to a yarn store and bought yarn and hooks right after our workshop. Raquel's one of the excited ones :) She is getting really good with crochet. In fact, after this session, she was able to crochet a big flower. And yes, that's her own personal yarn stash. I regret not being able to take pics of the other stuff she has already crocheted. She did a lot already!

Since attending the last session, Jacqueline has already started on an afghan for her daughter. She is also one of the brave ones to crochet in an airplane! She began this afghan in an airplane!

Looks like Luz is a budding crochet teacher as well. Check out what she already did since our first session. She definitely got hooked!

I wish I had taken more pics! I always feel like I'm in a crochet bubble when I conduct my workshops and forget about documentation :p Here you can see the group in their own crochet bubbles.

Workshop 6: Amigurumi Workshop on Feb. 24 at Fully Booked High Street

Amigurumi is the Japanese art of crocheting (or knitting) stuffed animals or anthropomorphic creatures (or objects). Learn how to crochet an amigurumi creation and get tips on how to create your very own! This will be held on Feb. 24 (Sunday) in Fully Booked High Street (Bonifacio Global City, Taguig), 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

Participants must have basic experience of crochet. When I mean basic, if you know how to make a chain, do single and double crochets, and slip stitches, you're qualified! We want to make sure that we make good use of our workshop time by teaching you an amigurumi pattern and tips on how to eventually create your own. We'll cover amigurumi basics.

Workshop fee is P1,500. This is already inclusive of your very own amigurumi kit: 5 sets of acrylic yarn, double-ended steel hook, fiberfill, tapestry needle, scissors, patterns, and 5 pairs of googly eyes. You will also get a screen printed tote bag from Craft MNL!

I Yarn Bombed My Mannequin (Sort Of)

I got this second hand half-body mannequin so I can "stylishly" hang my scarves. I love scarves. They make my plain self look "stylish."

I wasn't able to take a pic of the "before" look of the mannequin. The stand was steel and the base was rusty and it had this black cover on it. I gave it a makeover. I spray-painted the stand and because I love yarn, I incorporated it in this makeover. So I wrapped the entire black cover of the base with a multicolored yarn. The yarn was perfect because its strands were thick so it gave me a lot of coverage. No crocheting here though. I just simply wrapped it.

Makes me think of yarn bombing the entire mannequin. When I find time to do so, I will :p

Gosh, yarn always amazes me!
